General Counter Care Tips

  • Wipe down surfaces daily.
  • Use everyday dish soap and a soft cloth for cleaning.
  • Use cutting boards or a butcher’s block when using knives.
  • Put down placemats and trivets to protect surfaces from heat.
  • Know your manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning products and materials.

You can also buy additional cleaners in our showroom that will enhance the shine and colour of your countertop.

How do I care for my Quartz countertop?

Wipe down the counter with a soft cloth and mild detergent regularly. We recommend that you clean spills as soon as possible and avoid harsh cleaners. Avoid placing hot pots & pans directly on the surface as this can cause Thermoshock- cracking of the quartz surface from exposure to extreme heat.

How do I care for my Granite countertop?

High-quality granite counters are relatively low maintenance. We recommend using a PH neutral cleaner and a soft cloth for daily cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals and scrubbers to preserve the surface. Avoid placing hot pots and pans on the surface as this can cause Thermoshock. Most suppliers will recommend sealing your granite on a yearly basis or going with long term sealer, which seals your granite for up to 25 years.  We are currently using a 20 year sealer to protect your countertops.  There is a third party insurance that may be purchased, this is added insurance against food and beverage stains.  Residential coverage is for 20 years, Commercial coverage is for 10 years, and Exterior coverage is for 1 year.  Please see us for details.

How do I care for my Solid Surface countertop?

Soap and water are the best cleaning methods (mild non-abrasive dish soap would do). No harsh chemicals soaps or cleaners. Simply wipe it down with a soapy cloth and wipe it down with a dry one.
